I just had a brilliant, even politically feasible idea to end reservations.

LET BACKWARD CASTES SELL THEIR CASTE CERTIFICATES.

At equilibrium, this equalizes cut-offs. Win-win for both UCs and LCs.

I just saved Indian civilization. You’re welcome.

Picture this: media uncovers a racket somewhere in rural UP of poor Dalits (state agents) selling their caste certificates to UCs with similar names (state agents).

Said UCs are LMC and took a loan to buy it, so they don’t come across as amīr bāp ke bete etc.

Police (state agents) make a huge ruckus, send everyone involved to jail, confiscate all wealth gotten via this method.

Uproar from Dalit leaders (state agents), protests orchestrated, case reaches SC (state agents). SC orders government to recognize the purchases and make a central registry.
